This is my grandparents house...my Nanny went to be with the Lord 7 years ago. Since then one of my Papa's pastimes has made him known as "The Peanut Man" to all the squirrels in his yard. He can sit by the door out front and they will come right up to him!! The girls have attempted this ...they aren't quite patient enough yet:) Their house holds so many of my childhood memories...we were there so often growing up (my hometown is Tampa) and it is pure Joy whenever we go and visit now!! It is really cool to see our girls forming some of the same memories I have as a kid there too. This house is 46 years old so my Mom and her brother & sister grew up there too...really neat to hear all the memories each person has when we are all together. The big oak tree in the back is listed on the National Historical Registry...this is the one we have all climbed on at some point in our lives!!! This house has survived quite a bit...it went through of period of major settling, you might even say sinking!! It has major cracks that have been repaired multiple times and now it is actually crooked when you walk inside!! It is still Nanny & Papa's house though...that will never change:)
Right side of house
If you click on this you will see grape vines staight ahead...those were there when I was a kid!
Part of the big oak tree. The houses behind that you see were built after they sold off the acreage back in the 80's. Their property used to go back to the street and when my Mom & her siblings were growing up they had a pony and I believe other animals at times. It was a huge field we could play in.
Here is a partial picture of the big oak...and of course the 2nd generation swings!! Behind Mia where the fence is when I was young there was a swamp on that side and a couple of banana trees...it has really changed!!!
The squirrel was barking at this cat from up in the tree!
The girls admiring the cat from afar...wishing they could get closer!
This shed which now is storage used to be the playhouse for my Mom & her siblings
This is Papa's sure fire fix to the squirrels trying to break in the house to get the peanuts when he is slacking on the job:) Brillo pads have more uses than we thought!!!
One sweet little friend...
Coming for a closer look!
Can you spot him now?!!
