This week is titled Character Development:Respect for Authority and Parents. The six natural relationships that provide context for character development are: Authority, Parents, Age (elders), Siblings/ Peers, Property and Nature. They discuss respect & submission to authority & obedience, submission and honor to our parents. Do we honor our parents out of duty or devotion?
One interesting point was the 5/1 ratio- 5 hours teaching moral behavior vs. 1 hour TV. We need to monitor the amount of TV time we allow our kids. TV appeals to the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the private life.
Key Principle- Parenting in the mind of God is a Kingdom Issue.
Homework- Do we honor our parents out of duty or devotion?
Observe and give a couple examples of blatant offenses witnessed during the week at work, school, driving down the road or while shopping.
